i can't express with words why i find this picture so compelling, it's a mixture of the style, subject, and that fantastic hair, so i'll just fave it and hope that shows how fascinating i find this O3O
This is absolutely amazing. I love this art style. Her dress is so bright compared to the background. Quick question, did you use flowers with specific meanings, or just those that would work best visually?
Not the artist (obviously), but I may venture a guess The red and white tulips were very popular in the Netherlands during a time known as Tulipomania. The red and white ones were Semper Augustus, and there was another kind colored purple and white, which was the Viceroy. These tulips could go for as much as a single working man would make in three years. They were a sign of wealth and privilege. However, these tulips bloomed from sickly looking bulbs, because they were sick. They carried a virus that caused the color to break on them, causing the streaking red or purple. Over the years the tulips ended up dying out, so now there are no more direct descendants of the original Semper Augustus or Viceroy. But, fun fact, they ARE creating broken color tulips through genetic engineering, and have created the Wakefield Flame, which is absolutely beautiful.
Sorry for the small history lesson, but I love the story Whether that was the artist's intention or not by having those tulips, that's the kind they are.
